Workshops
Hands-on teaching outside the classroom — multi-day and multi-week workshops for graduate students, faculty and the general public, delivered in the United States and Taiwan since 2019.
These are working sessions rather than lectures. Participants arrive with a laptop and leave with something that runs: a rendered document, a published site, a model they fitted themselves. Most have no prior programming background, which is a design constraint rather than an obstacle.

Curricula I have built
The sessions above are deliveries of material I designed. Each curriculum is authored in Quarto, version-controlled, and published openly so that other instructors can run it without me — which is the point. A workshop that only its author can teach is a talk with exercises.
How I run them
Three commitments carry across every workshop I teach: everything is reproducible from source, so participants can rebuild what they made after they go home; everyone publishes, because work that only exists on one laptop tends not to survive the week; and the data is real, with the missingness and ambiguity intact, because cleaned teaching datasets teach the wrong lesson about what analysis actually involves.
Workshop material and course repositories are on GitHub. For graduate courses taught within a degree programme, see teaching; for conference papers and invited lectures, see talks.
